The guide, connected
Explore Puerto Rico’s birds with your assistant.
Our public MCP server gives compatible assistants access to the same species records you can browse on this website.
Connect to the guide
Add a remote MCP server in your assistant’s settings, choose Streamable HTTP and enter this address. No account, API key or installation is required.
https://birdsofpuertorico.com/mcpYour client must support remote MCP connections. The endpoint accepts protocol requests, so opening it in a browser is not a connection test.
What you can ask
Try “Find the Puerto Rican Tody and link me to its guide entry” or “Which birds are listed in the hummingbird group?”
search_birds- Search names and guide text, optionally filtering by bird group. Results include source links and pagination.
get_bird- Retrieve the full guide entry using an exact ID returned by search.
list_families- Browse the guide’s bird groups and record counts. These categories are not always formal taxonomic families.
Know the source
The tools read the site’s catalogue. They do not identify uploaded photographs, report live sightings, access community accounts or change records. No LLM inference or external API request runs inside these tools. Records can change between releases, so identical searches are not a permanent snapshot.
Ask your assistant to cite the returned species links. Conservation statements and taxonomy may be historical. See our sources and guide limitations before using the material for research.
Other ways to read
Use the Markdown species index, AI reading guide or MCP registry metadata. Access does not grant additional rights to source text or photographs.
